Tribe PTOMAPHAGINI Jeannel View in CoL
Ptomaphagini Jeannel, 1911: 193 View in CoL (in table, not stated as taxonomic novelty), 1936: 52 (as “new taxon”, but referring to Ptomaphagina Hatch, 1928: 164 ) [stem: Ptomaphag -]. Type genus: Ptomaphagus Hellwig. View in CoL
Note: Gnaspini (1996) suggested abandoning the use of subtribes because he found that Ptomaphaginina is not monophyletic; however, Perreau (2000: 344) maintained its use and added a third, monotypic, subtribe, Baryodirina. The phylogenetic analysis of Antunes-Carvalho et al. (2019) recovered Baryodirus Perreau [2000] View in CoL nested within “ Ptomaphaginina ”. We here maintain the use of subtribes.
Distribution: Neotropical, Holarctic, Oriental.
