scientific name

Pseudonemadus exigua
status

P. exigua ( Kirsch, 1871: 354)

(Choleva); Hatch, 1928: 163 comb. (to Dissochaetus View in CoL , not stated as taxonomic change); Jeannel, 1936: 66 comb. (to Adelopsis View in CoL , as exiguus ; not stated as taxonomic change, and not referring to Hatch’s change, probably not aware of it) [but see Notes 3 and 4]; Gnaspini, 1996: 538 comb. No information about types in original description;

? Syntype (s) (sex not given) in?SMTD [ Jeannel, 1936 gives no reference to type depository and lists several specimens from “vicinity of Bogotá ” in MNHN, probably not types, therefore he probably did not have access to types].

Type locality: Bogotá, [Cundinamarca Department, Colombia].

Distribution: Colombia: Cundinamarca Department: known only from type locality.

Note 1: See synonymic Note 1 under P. dispar (Portevin) .

Note 2: In Hatch, 1928: 163 as Peru, in error, and Guatemala (as a senior synonym of Dissochaetus magnicornis Portevin [1907] , presently a junior synonym of Dissochaetus semipiceus (Matthews) [1888]).

Note 3: Jeannel, 1936: 66 lists “several specimens” from “region of Bogotá ” [Cundinamarca Department], Colombia, but it is not possible to know if he is referring to P. dispar or P. exigua , and if he is referring to types; but the type of P. dispar label reads only “ Colombie ” ( Gnaspini & Peck, 2019).

Note 4: Jeannel, 1936: 66 includes a record for “ Brazil ”, which may either refer to P. exigua or P. dispar , considering that he considered these species synonyms; and which may be in error, considering that species ranges in the tribe are generally not large and that the record in Brazil is not precise.
