Holotype: ♂, paratypes 1♀, 1 ♂ Taiwan, Nantou, Chunyang (N 24°02′, E 121°08′, 1600m) May 19, 1998, collected by Wan-Tong Yang.

Male ( Fig.1 View FIGURE 1 a–e) Body small in size. Head shorter than pronotum. Front oblique, frontal costa distinctly concave before lateral ocelli in profile, frontal ridge with longitudinal groove entirely, width of frontal ridge narrower than width of basal joint of antennae, only protruding arched between base of antenna in profile. Vertex broad, flat, widest 2 times diameter of eye, protruding forward between eyes slightly in profile. Eye not protruding above pronotum. Antennae slender, located under the lower margin of eyes. Anterior margin of pronotum reaching 1/5 eyes, upper margin of pronotum waved in lateral view, lateral carinae contracted backward slightly, posterior margin of lateral lobe of pronotum with 2 concaves and posterior apex of lower margin rounded, the apex of pronotum with a triangular concave, reaching the end of epiproct. Wings absent. Lower margin of fore and mid femora almost straight. Upper keel of hind femur smooth. Hind tibia with 9 spines on outer side and 8 spines on inner side. First segment of hind tarsus longer than third one, arolium of tarsus very small. Cercus conical, basal part widened slightly. Subgenital plate triangular, apex obtuse.

Female ( Fig.1 View FIGURE 1 f–h) Body larger than male. Antennae filiform, 15 segments, length of a segment in the middle about 7.0 times of its width. Ovipositor valves narrower, length of upper valve 3.5 times its width. Others as same male.

Coloration: body yellowish-brown. Pronotum without black spot on both sides

Length of body: ♂ 7.5-8.2 mm, ♀ 10.5 mm.

Length of pronotum: ♂ 6.1-6.5 mm, ♀ 7.7 mm.

Length of hind femur: ♂ 4.8-5.4 mm, ♀ 5.8 mm.

The new species is allied to Aalatettix gibbosa Zheng, Cao & Chen, 2011 , the major differences are listed in Table 1 View TABLE 1 .

Etymology. The specific epithet is named after Mr. Wan-Tong Yang for commemorating his help to collect the type specimens.
