status

11. Cyphomyia Wiedemann, 1819b: 54 View in CoL View at ENA [1824: 13].

ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Cyphomyia auriflamma Wiedemann, 1819 ; Stratiomys albitarsis Fabricius, 1805 ; Cyphomyia leucocephala Wiedemann, 1819 .

TYPE SPECIES: Cyphomyia auriflamma Wiedemann, 1819 , by subsequent designation (Blanchard in Audouin et al., 1847: pl. 172bis) .

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Woodley (2001: 157) ].

FAMILY: STRATIOMYIDAE .

REMARKS: Woodley (2001: 157) listed Stratiomys cyanea Fabricius, 1794 as the type species by subsequent designation of Duponchel in d’Orbigny (1844: 548) which is the designation listed in Evenhuis & Thompson (1990: 234), Evenhuis (1994: 307), and Sabrosky (1999: 104), but this is incorrect because Stratiomys cyanea is not an originally included species. The earliest designation of an originally included species is that by Blanchard in Audouin et al. (1847: pl. 172bis) and this is the one listed in Rozkošný & Nartshuk [1988: 71 (Audouin et al. as “1849”)]. Brauer (1882: 87) also designated Cyphomyia auriflamma Wiedemann, 1819 as type species, but this was later.

[Dasypygon] Wiedemann, 1818a: 27.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Dasypogon Meigen, 1803 .

FAMILY: ASILIDAE .
