Majeorona bovilla Distant 1905d: 318 View in CoL . (Chapada, 2600 feet, Central Brazil)

REMARKS. This is the largest of the Majeorona species (body length about 48–50 mm and wing span about 135 mm) and will rival Quesada gigas ( Olivier, 1790) for the largest of the Peruvian cicadas. It can be distinguished from M. aper by the dark brown and piceous coloration of that species, from M. ecuatoriana by the infuscation on the distal apical cell veins and ambient veins of the wings in that species, and the much smaller body size and lack of infuscation on the radial and radiomedial crossveins of the forewings of M. truncata Goding, 1925 .

DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Peru ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013; 2014a). Pogue (1996) reported the species from Pakitza and Tambopata.
