REMARKS. Fidicina obscura is similar in size to larger examples of F. mannifera with a wingspan less than 125 mm and is smaller than both F. ethelae and F. robini . The species can be distinguished from the other Peruvian Fidicina by the male timbal cover not reaching the metascutellar plate, the male operculum has a semicircular extension on the posterolateral corner, the fore femora proximal and apical spines are angled with respect to the femoral axis and the secondary spine in absent, and the lateral branch of the uncus is recurved as it extends to a spine-like terminus.

DISTRIBUTION. Species have been reported previously from Brazil ( Sanborn 2013).
