TYPE MATERIAL. Holotype. “ PERU: San Martin Dept. / Moyabamba, vic. / Ecológico “ Rumipata ” / 13–18-X-2012 J. E. Eger // S 06º 04’32.0”, W / 076º 58’ 07.5” 970 / m, MV & UV Light” male ( FSCA) GoogleMaps . Paratypes. Same data as holotype, one male ( FSCA), one male ( AFSC) .

ETYMOLOGY. The name is a combination of the type locality (moyabamba -) and - ensis (L., suffix denoting place, locality).

REMARKS. This is another small greenish-tawny species marked with piceous and castaneous.

DESCRIPTION. Ground color greenish-tawny marked with piceous, castaneous marking on dorsal and ventral abdomen. The mesothorax is greener than the remainder of the body and the greenish-tawny regions may be green in fresh specimens.

Head. Head slightly wider than mesonotum, ground color with piceous posterior margin of eye. Ocelli rosaceous, greenish-ochraceous and ochraceous in paratypes, eyes ochraceous. Dorsal head covered with short golden pile, radiating dense, long piceous pile, long silvery pile posterior to eye. Ventral head ground color, piceous mark on lateral and ventral eye margin extending onto central gena, posteromedial lorum piceous. Postclypeus ground color, centrally sulcate from anterior to posteroventral margin to apex, with twelve transverse ridges, short silvery pile on lateral margin, radiating long piceous pile, denser on dorsal surface. Anteclypeus piceous with ground color carina and anterior margin. Ventral head and lateral anteclypeus with short silvery pile, radiating long piceous pile. Mentum ground color distally with castaneous marks on lateral surfaces, labium ground color with distal piceous lateral stripe and castaneous tip, reaching to anterior of hind coxae. Proximal scape and proximal pedicel ground color, remaining antennal segments castaneous.

Thorax. Dorsal thorax ground color. Pronotum with piceous mark in posterior paramedian fissure, castaneous mark in posterior lateral fissure curving across disk to posterior paramedian fissure, piceous in paratypes, covered with short golden pile radiating long piceous pile. Pronotal collar ground color with short golden pile, radiating long piceous pile. Mesonotum greener, piceous marks outlining posteromedial parapsidal suture, parapsidal suture castaneous anteriorly, castaneous spot on posterior lateral sigillae in one paratype expanding to U-shaped mark in other paratype, castaneous mark on anterolateral mesonotum in one paratype, castaneous mark anterior to anterior arms of cruciform elevation, scutal depressions castaneous, lateral margin of mesonotum piceous, mark expanding to cover posterior mesonotum, piceous spot on anterior wing groove. Metanotum ground color with piceous spot on anterolateral margin. Long golden pile between anterior arms of cruciform elevation, posterior to anterior arms of cruciform elevation, on lateral mesothorax, posterior mesothorax, radiating from posterior wing groove, and on posterior metanotum. Long piceous pile radiating from mesothorax. Ventral thoracic segments ground color except piceous basisternum 2, with long and short silvery pile.

Wings. Fore wings and hind wings hyaline, with eight and six apical cells respectively. Venation ground color, becoming castaneous distally, except piceous proximal and castaneous distal anal vein 2 + 3, pterostigma present. Paired linear infuscation in apical cells. Wing margin infuscated, marginal area with linear infuscations appearing to extend from apical cells. Basal membrane grayish. Hind wing venation ground color becoming castaneous distally. Anal vein 3 short, about one third the length of anal vein 2, forming small anal cell 3 and plaga. Anal cell 3 and plaga gray, anal cell 2 along anal veins 2 and 3, anal cell 1 along anal vein 2 margined with gray, infuscation distal to gray. Wing margin infuscated.

Legs. Ground color, castaneous spot on lateral hind coxae, femora striped with castaneous, castaneous distal fore and middle tibiae, fore tarsi, middle tarsi, lighter proximally, and distal pretarsal claws, long silvery pile radiating from legs. Fore femora with proximal spine longest, angled slightly more than secondary spine, tertiary spine parallel to primary spine about as long as secondary spine, and very small apical spine emerging from distal base of tertiary spine. Spines castaneous with darker tips and piceous base. Tibial spurs and comb castaneous with dark castaneous tips. Meracanthus broadly triangular, ground color with piceous spots on medial and lateral base, reaching anterior of medial opercular margin.

Opercula. Male operculum ground color with dark castaneous mark on medial and lateral base, covered with long silvery pile, lateral margin extending laterally at base, lateral margin slightly curved, bent dorsally on lateral body, posterolateral margin curved at approximate right angle, slightly sinuate posterior margin, roughly rectangular with finger-like posteromedial extension, rounded medial margin, not meeting medially, not reaching medial meracanthus, not covering tympanum, reaching to anterior of lateral sternite II, sinuous with right angle laterally when viewed from the posterior.

Abdomen. Abdominal tergites ground color with castaneous on anterodorsal midline, expanding in posterior tergites so that tergites 7–8 completely castaneous dorsally, tergites covered with short golden pile, long golden pile surrounding timbal cavity, long golden pile radiating from lateral tergites 6–7 and all of tergite 8, dorsal midline of tergites 1–3 radiating long piceous pile. Timbal exposed, white marked with castaneous, nine long ribs and nine intercalary ribs visible. Male sternites ground color, sternite I and II castaneous on midline, sternites III–VII castaneous on midline expanding on posterior margin, amount of castaneous increasing in posterior sternites so that sternite VII is castaneous with ground color anterolateral corners, sternite VIII dark castaneous, sternites radiating silvery pile, epipleurites ground color, epipleurites 7 and 8 with castaneous medial margin, with silvery pile.

Genitalia. Male pygofer ground color, distal shoulder light castaneous, upper pygofer lobes ochraceous, dorsal beak castaneous. Dorsal beak narrow, longer than castaneous anal styles. Pygofer basal lobe about half-length of pygofer, angled laterally at base, curved mediad with medially rounded apex radiating dense golden pile. Upper pygofer lobes adpressed to pygofer, not reaching distal shoulder, angled medial margin with small point on medial terminus, radiating long golden pile. Claspers small, hidden by radiating long golden pile of basal lobe, long golden pile radiating ventral to anal tube. Basal lobe appendage roughly rectangular with distal posterior corner slightly extended and distal anterior corner rounded. Aedeagus castaneous tubular with elongated sinuate terminal membrane.

Female is unknown.

MEASUREMENTS (MM). N = three males, mean (range). Length of body: 14.67 (14.40–14.95); length of fore wing: 19.65 (19.35–19.95); width of fore wing: 7.02 (6.90–7.15); length of head: 2.87 (2.70–3.00); width of head including eyes: 5.32 (5.25–5.35); width of pronotum including suprahumeral plates: 6.20 (6.10–6.35); width of mesonotum: 5.22 (5.10–5.40).

DIAGNOSIS. Herrera moyabambaensis n. sp. is another of the Herrera species that possess prothoracic and mesothoracic markings. It can be distinguished from all similar species by the lack of markings on the dorsal head.

DISTRIBUTION. The species is known from the type locality in Peru.
