Holotype: SU 23927 (270 TL), central Fromosa , probably Polisia or Kagi, 1908, coll. Victor Kühne.
Remark. This is also the type species of the genus Ptychidio . Böhlke (1953) suggested this species was introduced from mainland China. This species was never found in Taiwanese waters and should be excluded form the ichthyofauna of Taiwan.
