Eupolyphaga shennongensis sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype: CHINA: Hubei: male (IZCAS), Songluo Township [宋洛乡], Shennongjia Forest Region [神农架林区], 920 m, 31.VIII.1981, Yin-Heng Han leg. Paratypes: 1 male ( IZCAS), same data as the holotype ; 1 male ( SWU), Songbai Town [松柏镇], Shennongjia Forest Region , found under a street lamp, 2.X.2016, Mao Ye leg.
Diagnosis. See under the diagnosis of E. sinensis .
Description. Male. General: measurements (mm): body length: 20.8–20.9, overall length: 32.5–32.7, pronotum length×width: 5.1–5.3×9.4–9.5, tegmen length: 29.2–29.4. Large and broad, brown, tegmina with dense maculae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 C–D). Head: round, dark brown, shining. Interocular space narrow; ocelli ridge bent. Frons flat, each lateral with a small gracile yellowish spot which next to the antennal socket. Antennae dark reddish brown. Clypeus small, flat; ante-clypeus light yellowish brown, wide, extending to the lateral borders of the post-clypeus; post-clypeus dark brown, dividing into two parts by a shallow longitudinal yellowish line medially. Labrum brownish yellow, long, median margin emarginated, hind corners round. Maxillary palpi and labial palpi brown, with joint parts yellow (Fig. 13 E–F). Pronotum: brown, anterior margin yellow, subtransparent. Surface generally covered with small yellowish pubescence, lateral fore margins with additional long brown setae. Apex slightly convex and truncated; lateral fore margins oblique roundly; lateral borders straight, forming an angle with hind margin; hind margin slightly curved (Fig. 13 D). Tegmina and Wings: exceeded the end of abdomen about 11.7- 11.9 mm. Tegmina brownish yellow, hyaline, outer margin dark reddish brown, tegmina densely covered with light brown speckles, so dense that also isolated the hyaline area into many hyaline speckles, the brown and hyaline speckles evenly distributed. Wings light brown, outer margin dark reddish brown, venation distinct, M and AP areas transparent, distal portion of CuA with several small hyaline spots. Legs: slightly pubescent, coxa with distal portion mixed with brown and yellow coloration and dense pubescence, trochanter generally yellow, femur brown but slightly yellowish; tibial spines usually dark reddish brown with basal portion light reddish brown. Abdomen: brown, mixed with reddish brown and yellowish coloration, smooth, each segment sparsely with a row of setae. Supra-anal plate apex protruded, slightly emarginated, anterior margin and paraprocts thoroughly pubescent; two median sclerites reduced, irregular; cerci short ( Fig. 18 A View FIGURE 18 ). Subgenital plate asymmetrical, right slightly larger than the left, unicolored for the exposed part, anterior margin fully setose; left stylus robust but short, right one relatively slender ( Fig. 18 B View FIGURE 18 ). Genitalia: well sclerited. Left phallomere: L1 elongate, near the anterior apex with a beak-shaped process towards left, median necked, two hind lobes asymmetrical; L2 robust, right end with two processes; L3 strong, apex curved mildly; pda well developed, paa gentle protruded. Right phallomere: small. R1M short; R1L well sclerited, thick; R3 strong narrower toward the connecting part between R2 and R3; R2 simple, median concave ( Fig. 18 View FIGURE 18 C–D).

Etymology. The species epithet is from the type locality Shennongjia, in Hubei Province.
