Type material examined. Holotype of Polyphaga fusca , male (NHM, No. #877761), “ Yunnan fu (now Kunming City). / J. Graham. / 1904-328.”; “ Polyphaga fusca Chop. type (handwritten)/ L. CHOPARD det.”. Paratype of Polyphaga fusca , 1 male ( NHM, No. #876178), “ Yunnan fu. / J. Graham. / 1904-328.”; “ Polyphaga fusca Chop Cotype (handwritten)/ L CHOPARD. det.” .

Diagnosis. This species can be easily distinguished from the congeners by the peculiar unicolored body of male ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 A–B). For more details, see diagnosis under E. robusta sp. nov.

Redescription. Male. General: measurements (mm): body length: 17.1–20.2, overall length: 28.8–31.0, pronotum length×width: 8.7–9.5×5.2–5.4, tegmen length: 24.2–26.8. Median size, unicolored, brown ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 A–B, E–F). Head: round, black. Interocular space narrow; ocelli ridge not distinct. Frons flat, wrinkled, pubescent. Antennae brown. Clypeus small; ante-clypeus yellowish brown, narrow; post-clypeus dark brown. Labrum yellowish brown, transverse. Maxillary palpi and labial palpi yellowish brown (Fig. 13 Q–R). Pronotum: unicolored brown, apex slightly light colored. Generally covered with small brownish pubescence, lateral fore borders with additional long brown setae. Widest on the fore border, apex truncated, slightly concave, lateral fore margins oblique roundly, lateral parts roundly angled, then becoming straight, narrower, hind margin slightly protruded (Fig. 13 P). Tegmina and wings: exceeded the end of abdomen about 10.1–12.5 mm. Tegmen brown, unicolored. Wing light brown, anal area and M area hyaline. Legs: brown, pubescent, joint parts slightly yellowish; tibial spines brown, with apex portion dark reddish brown. Abdomen: brown. Supra-anal plate median slightly protruded, apex emarginated, anterior margin and paraprocts well pubescent; two median sclerites small, unequalsized; cerci short, yellowish brown ( Fig. 25 A View FIGURE 25 ). Subgenital plate asymmetrical, unicolored for the exposed part, right part slightly larger than the left, hind margin concave, fully setose; styli slender, similar ( Fig. 25 B View FIGURE 25 ). Genitalia: weakly sclerotized. Left phallomere: small; L1 large, anterior part protruded, round, with a small process towards left, median necked, two hind lobes robust, apex of both sharp; L2 less sclerotized, right end elongate, near the apex with an expanded slice; L3 straight, apex hook rectangularly curved; pda thick, short, paa shortly protruded, small; L8 small. Right phallomere: large; R1M and R3 less sclerotized; R1M robust, median strong necked, hind portion enlarged, transparent, hollow; R1L thin; R2 generally with two irregular chunks, the outer one round, the inner one with three protruded corners ( Fig. 25 View FIGURE 25 C–D).

Female. Unicolored, brown (Only one specimen was examined by us from KIZCAS, from the locality information, we consider it the female of E. fusca , see Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 C–D).

Nymph. Without distinct maculae, brown ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 39 G–H).

Ootheca. Unknown.

Natural History. Individuals may be found inside rotten woods ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 39 G–H), or around human dwelling.

Distribution. China (Yunnan) ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ).

Remarks. A species previously known from Kunming City and its adjacent areas, in Yunnan. We also recorded it from Mt. Jizushan where is more westward from the known localities.
