Bonamia rosiewiseae was described based on two collections from Bolivia, one from Santiago de Chiquitos and the other from nearby Taperas ( Wood 2013). The following two collections extend the range of this species to the state of Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil and confirm it as a species of savannah habitats in the Cerrado domain.

Typus: Bolivia, Chiquitos, camino viejo de Taperas a Roboré, a unos 15–20 km de Taperas [18°04’44”S, 60°22’37”W], 562 m, 17 Oct. 2007, J. R. I. Wood, D. Villarroel & P. Pozo 23584 (holotype K, isotypes LPB, UB!, USZ).
