Type locality and specimens. nur ♀— Ecuador ( Riobamba )—(vidi 1 ♀, Typus) .

Dimensions. Korperlänge 11 mm. [prosoma + opisthosoma 8.90]

Oldest label. Mummucia variegata Sim., Dr. Ohaus l., c. 15.XII.06, Riobamba , Ecuador, (unter [illeg.]) (Kraepelin handwriting).

Additional label. Mummucina titschacki , 1♀ —nov. spec. Typus, Ecuador, Roewer rv. 1931 . No 8372 (Roewer handwriting).

Type material. Holotype ♀ (ZMH-A0000210). Damaged, missing one chelicera and leg parts.

Taxonomic remarks. Roewer had a single female for his description but there are some body parts (3+4 legs, pedipalp, chelicerae) of a female holotype in the SMF (catalog no. 6821). The female at the ZMH is indeed missing a chelicera, a palp and some legs. Botero-Trujillo (2014) presented a re-description of the species and mentions that the type is shared between two collections. Female holotype: body and some appendages housed in the ZMH ” and “Female holotype: one leg III, one leg IV, a pedipalp and the left chelicera in a microscope slide housed in the Senckenberg Museum, Frankfurt ( SMF)”.

Collection remarks. The specimen was collected by German entomologist Friedrich Ohaus (1864–1946) who participated in three zoological expeditions to South America in his role as the ship’s medical doctor. The relevant expedition took place from August 1904 to April 1906 and Ohaus was traveling over the Cordilleras from Rio Villano to Cururay and Napo to Iquitos, and then down the Amazon River to Para, Brazil ( Nissen 1952).
