Etymology:—The generic epithet reflects host genus Equisetum .

Holotype:— MFLU14-0702 View Materials

Saprobic on decaying herbaceous branches. Sexual morph: Ascomata immersed to semi-immersed, scattered, uniloculate, ovoid, ostiole central, with minute papilla. Peridium composed of several layers, of brown to dark brown cells, arranged in a textura angularis. Hamathecium of dense, 1–2 μm wide, filamentous, septate cellular, pseudoparaphyses, anastomosing above the asci. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, cylindrical, with long acute or knob-like pedicel, apically rounded, with ocular chamber. Ascospores overlapping 1–2-seriate, initially hyaline becoming yellowish pale brown at maturity, fusiform, 4–5-septate with distinct septa, guttulate, not constricted at the septa, without a mucilaginous sheath. Asexual morph: Undetermined.
