Type. Female holotype, COSTA RICA, Siquirres Canton. 20–23.v.1994. F. Schrader leg. ( AMNH). Additional material examined. None.

Etymology. The species epithet is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality.

Diagnosis. Females of Gelanor siquirres n. sp. can be distinguished from the other congeneric species by the unique “mushroom” shape of its epigynum in ventral view, with a wide septum ( Fig. 44 View FIGURE 44 I, J).

Description. Female holotype. Habitus as in Figs. 44 View FIGURE 44 A–D. Total length 5.52. Carapace orange. Cephalothorax 3.20 long, 2.45 wide, 1.00 high; abdomen white 2.32 long, 2.63 wide, 2.21 high. Sternum light brown 1.64 long, 1.25 wide. Labium 0.47 long, 0.40 wide, darker than the sternum. Clypeus 0.13 high. AME interdistance 0.27; PME interdistance 0.13; PME–AME distance 0.29; AME–ALE distance 0.36; PME–PLE distance 0.45. Chelicerae pale yellow ( Figs. 44 View FIGURE 44 D, E). ChL 1.26, ChW1 0.66; ChW2 0.71. Epigynum as in Figs. 45 View FIGURE 45 F–L, with a wide septum; spermathecae rounded and less than one diameter apart, not externally fused ( Fig. 44 View FIGURE 44 K).

Variation. Unknown, only one adult specimen available for study.

Distribution. Only known by its type locality in Siquirres , Costa Rica ( Fig. 48 View FIGURE 48 ).
