Hedychrum purpurascens Dahlbom 1854: 85 . Holotype (sex unknown); Poland: Glogovia (ZMUL) (examined).

Material examined. * Estonia: Kauksi , 3.VIII.2013, 2 ♂♂ and 2 ♀♀, 7.VIII.2013, 2 ♂♂ and 3 ♀♀ (V. Soon) .
Distribution. * Estonia.—Westpalearctic: central Europe ( Linsenmaier 1959).
Remarks. The species was recently found from Estonia on the northern shore of Lake Peipus. The record from Denmark (Allearter.dk 2010) is erroneous (K. Runge Poulsen, in litt.). The closest confirmed records are from northern Poland ( Banaszak 1980) and northern Germany ( Jakobs & Kornmilch 2007, Smissen 2010c).
