Genitalia. Male ( GP AK628, Figs 50 View FIGURES 46–51 , 68, 74 View FIGURES 68–79 ). Lateral lobes of the juxta somewhat extended, with a pronounced pointed triangular and slightly twisted basal extension; transtilla with a strong triangular projection ( Figs 50 View FIGURES 46–51 , 68 View FIGURES 68–79 ); phallus simple, relatively narrow ( Figs 50 View FIGURES 46–51 , 74 View FIGURES 68–79 ). Female ( GP AK632, Fig. 83 View FIGURES 80–83 ). Ostium narrow, mainly membranous, with two smaller sclerotized plates.

Diagnosis ( Figs 28, 29 View FIGURES 24–31 ). Alar expanse in males 52–59 mm (56± 3 mm, n=15), in females 67–72 mm (n=2). This species is the second largest of the genus. It can be distinguished from all other species by the distinctive color of its thorax (without any brown dorsally, cream, with a black line anteriorly, patagia dark brown) and its narrow forewings, which show numerous fine lines and strigulae, and three distinctly wider transverse lines, one just before the middle and two which form a Y-shaped mark near the termen. The hindwings are mottled light to dark grey; the thick bipectinate antennae are dark brown.

Distribution and Biology ( Fig. 168 View FIGURES 167–172 ). This species is restricted to southeastern Australia; it ranges from Tasmania and Victoria to the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales. The larval foodplant is unknown. Specimens have been collected in late autumn and winter between mid May and end August; exceptionally as early as March or as late as October.
