Distribution: India (Andaman Island, Bihar, Chad, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh), Australia, Bahamas, Bhutan, Bismarck Islands, Bonin Island, Brazil, Cameroun, China, Ivory Coast, Dominica, Ethiopia, Fiji Islands, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guam, Guinea, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Nepal, New Caledonia, New Guinea, New Hebrides, Nigeria, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Reunion Island, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, St. Thomas, Swaziland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tonga Islands, U.S.A., Vietnam, Virgin Islands, Zaire.

Host: Larvae feed on Cajanus cajan , flowers and pods of Lablab purpureus , flowers of Vigna unguiculata , Phaseolus vulgaris (Fabaceae) ; Thalia geniculata (Marantaceae) ; L udwigia adscendens ( Onagraceae ); flower buds of Clerodendrum viscosum (Verbenaceae) ( Robinson et al. 2001); Fletcher (1909) also reported Dolichos lablab (Fabaceae) , Cucurbita (Cucurbitaceae) . Other recorded hostplants include Caperonia regales , C. castaneifolia (Euphorbiaceae) , Thalia geniculata L. ( Marantaceae ), Centratherum punctatum , Eupatorium betonicaeforme (Asteraceae) , Cajanus bicolor , Mimosa pudica (Fabaceae) , Lagenaria leucantha var. clavata , L. siceraria , L. leucantha var. gourda , L. vulgaris , Curcubita pepo , Luffa aegyptiaca (Cucurbitaceae) , Pelargonium sp., Geranium maculatum (Geraniaceae) , Hibiscus mutabilis , Theobroma cacao (Malvaceae) , Passiflora foetida (Passifloraceae) , Antirrhinum majus (Plantaginaceae) , Lantana camara (Verbenaceae) , Averrhoe bilimbi , Biophytum sensitivum (Oxalidaceae) , and Brillantaisia lamium (Acanthaceae) .
