Distribution: India, Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cameroun, Congo, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mongolia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, New Guinea, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, Rep. South Africa, S„o Tomé Island, Serbia, Seychelles, Sicily, Slovenia, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda.

Host: Larvae have been recorded from the flowers of Callistephus chinensis and Erechtites hieracifolia and flowers, leaves, and seeds of Teucrium tomentosum . Other recorded host plants include Senecio vernalis , S. viscosus , S. cruentus , Erigeron canadensis , E. linifolius , Calendula arvensis , C. officinalis , Centaurea cyanus , Dahlia pinnata , Emilia flammea , and Helichrysium bracteatum (all Asteraceae ).
