Label details: ‘Stewart Island: Paterson Bay; L. Kohl-Larsen leg. 1924’.

Type locality: ‘ Stewart Insel ….. Paterson Bay, April 1924 ’ ( David 1934: 130) .

Previous illustrations of type material: David (1934: 129, fig. 5).

Remarks: The type material was collected by Dr. Ludwig Kohl-Larsen during a visit to Stewart Island on the Norwegian whaling ship Sir James Clark Ross I. Listed as Allodiscus mossi stewartensis by Dell (1954b: 141), and assigned to Phacussa Hutton, 1883 by Climo & Mahlfeld (1998: 3).

Current Taxonomy: Listed as Phacussa stewartensis ( David, 1934) by Climo & Mahlfeld (1998: 3) and Spencer et al., (2009: 215).

Distribution: Stewart Island ( David 1934; Dell 1954b; Powell 1979).
