Ptychadena grandisonae Laurent, 1954

Many-ridged Grass Frog ( Fig. 30 ; Map 27 )

Material (3 specimens): PEM A12696 , INBAC: WC-5185, Chicala Choloanga roadside quarry, -12.63611° 16.04282°, 1,858 m asl ; PEM A12689 , Cubango River launch site, -12.61700° 16.22133°, 1,727 m asl. Description: Medium sized Ptychadena ; narrow body; ridges present on thigh; two and a half phalanges of the longest toe free of webbing. Dorsum light brown, with darker brown blotches; back of thighs with pale stripes; yellow infusion in groin. Only adult male measured 36.2 mm ( PEM A12689 ). Habitat and natural history notes: This species was only encountered along the Cubango River in flooded grassland. Comments: The identification was based on the key provided by Poynton and Broadley (1985b) and needs genetic verification .
