Type data: Holotype female (ZMHB). Examined.
Type locality: Alegrete , Brazil.
Comments and Diagnosis. Stenosigma allegrum , the type species of the genus, was transferred from Eumenes by Giordani Soika (1978). The species is easily recognized by the pronotal carina without an evident lamella ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13–18. 13, 14 ) and by the dense and deep punctation of the pronotum and mesepisternum ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19–24. 19 ). Additionally, S. allegrum has the typical blackish and brownish color of the integument ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 ) also present in the species S. humerale and S. quechua , but differs from these by having the lateral margins of T1 distinctly fused ventrally in the basal portion ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 25–30. 25–27 ). The species was first reported from “Allegretto” (type locality) and Nova Teutonia—both localities in southern Brazil. However, its distribution is apparently broader with new collection records in the southeast of the country (Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and São Paulo).
