Elater melanocephalus Fabricius , Spec. Ins. 1: 272, 1781.
A single specimen was taken by Swezey in a house in Piti, Sept. 9, 1936 .
It occurs throughout the Pacific area, and westward to the islands of the Indian Ocean.
