Type locality.

Bulgaria: "auf dem Steilhang östlich des Riloklosters in einer Höhe von etwa 1200 m." [at a steep slope east of the Rilo monastry at an altitude of about 1200 m]. 1901.

Remarks.

Züllich (1936) proposed this name as a “var.” of M. cinxia (Linnaeus, 1758). According to article 45.6.4 ( ICZN 1999), it is subspecific if first published before 1961 and author expressly used the term “var.”.
