Basyonim: Collaea longifolia Bentham (1862: 151) . Type: — BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Serra da Chapada , Riedel s.n. (holotype location unknown) .

Erect subshrub; stem cylindrical; leaves digitately trifoliolate, leaflets linear, rigid; inflorescences axillary, both sessile and pedunculate often on the same individual; flowers 15 mm long, aggregated.

Selected specimen: — BRAZIL. Mato Grosso: Diamantino , 14º17'S, 56º30'W, 22 May 1997, V. C. Souza 16915 (UFMT) GoogleMaps .

Distribution: —Endemic to Brazil (GO, MG, MT).

Habitat and ecology:—Cerrado biome, growing in grassland and along forest edges, on sandy and rocky soils. The species is fire-resistant.

Notes:— Hoehne (1922) changed the name of C. longifolia Bentham to G. longifolia (Bentham) Hoehne (1922: 26) to adequate the species to the circumscription of Galactia valid when he published his work. As the name resulting from this new combination was already in use for G. longifolia (Jacquin) Bentham (1837: 63) , Burkart (1971) proposed G. hoehnei in order to avoid the homonymy. Thus, G. hoehnei is based on the same holotype used by Bentham to describe C. longifolia , however, we were unable to find the location of the specimen (Riedel s.n.). Vernacular name is “verga-teso”. Illustration in Burkart (1971, p. 765).

Phenology:— flowering and fruiting from September to May.
