DISTRIBUTION: Mountainous regions of W Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and W Bolivia; perhaps Panama.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; IUCN - Vulnerable.
SYNONYMS: frugilegus Tschudi, 1844; lasallei Maria, 1924; majori Thomas, 1902; nasutus Sclater, 1868; thomasi Hornaday, 1911.
