TYPE LOCALITY: " Chili," restricted by Cabrera (1958) to "alrededores de Valparaiso." [ Chile].
DISTRIBUTION: Chile, Peru, N Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, S Brazil.

COMMENTS: Kipp (1965) considered rex as conspecific; however, it was listed as separate by Osgood (1943) and Cabrera (1958).
