Discussion: Akodontini (S Andean clade). Revised by Osgood (1925, 1943) as part of Notiomys —see remarks under Chelemys . Sister genus to Pearsonomys according to maximum parsimony and likelihood analyses of cytochrome b sequences ( Smith and Patton, 1999).
