Tachysurus steindachneri ZBK Gilbert & Starks, 1904: 29, Pl, 5 (fig. 9). Type locality: Panama ( Pacific ). Holotype: SU 7026 . Paratypes: SU 7027 .

Arius taylori ZBK Hildebrand, 1925: 250, fig. 10. Type locality: Rio Lempa, San Marcos , El Salvador. Holotype: USNM 87224 .

Distribution: Western Central America.

Countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.

Habitat: Marine, brackish and freshwaters.

Maximum size: 360 mm TL.
