TYPE SPECIES. — Hongshanxi xiei n. sp.
ETYMOLOGY. — The Hongshan culture is an ancient (5000 BP) culture centred close to Jianping, near the fossil locality. “xi”refers to “ ¢ ” in Chinese, meaning a lizard.
