Type Locality: México, Sonora, Río Mayo, Camoa.
Vernacular Names: Sonoran Woodrat.
Distribution: SW Sonora and NW Sinaloa, México.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Teanopus . Type species of Teanopus , a taxon recognized as genus until reduced to a subgenus by Burt and Barkalow (1942). Karyotype interpreted as highly derived ( Koop et al., 1985); highly differentiated from and cladistically basal to most species surveyed by Planz et al. (1996) using mitochondrial DNA restriction site analyses. See Jones and Genoways (1978, Mammalian Species, 108).
