Type species: Syringophilus dendroicae Clark, 1964 , by original designation.

Members of this genus occupy quills of secondary and tertiary feathers and are associated with passeriform birds of the families: Cisticolidae , Fringillidae , Macrosphenidae , Nectariniidae , Parulidae , Sylviidae , and Timaliidae .

The Nearctic fauna comprises only two of the 11 described species in this genus, A. cardueli Skoracki et al., 2010 and A. dendroicae ( Clark, 1964) .
