Stenchaetothrips Bagnall

Stenchaetothrips Bagnall 1926: 107 . Type species Stenchaetothrips melanurus Bagnall , by original designation and monotypy.

Head about as long as broad; ocellar seta pair I absent, pair II usually longer than III, rarely sub-equal (as in S. caulis and S. hullikalli ); postocular setae uniserial or biserial, setae III longer or equal to setae I; maxillary palps 3-segmented. Compound eyes without pigmented facets. Antennae 7-segmented, sensorium forked on segments III and IV. Pronotum with two long setae at each posterior angle, three pairs of posteromarginal setae inner to the major posteroangulars. Prosternal basantra membranous, without setae; ferna undivided. Mesothoracic sternopleural sutures present. Metanotum with or without campaniform sensilla. Spinula usually absent on both pterygosterna, rarely present on mesosternum only. Tarsi 2-segmented. Fore wing first vein with 7 basal and 3 distal setae, second vein with more than 10 setae equally spaced; clavus with 5+1 setae.

Abdominal tergites with or without laterally or posteriorly directed teeth; tergites V-VIII with lateral ctenidia, ctenidia posteromesad of spiracle on VIII; tergite VIII with complete comb of microtrichia on posterior margin; tergite X split longitudinally; tergites and sternites without craspedum; sternites without discal setae.

Male with oval or transverse glandular area on each of sternites III to VI or VII.
