Taxonomic history. Uchida (1940a) synonymised Ichneumon diversipes Walker, 1874   under Cryptus punctator   and transferred C. punctator   to Listrognathus Tschek, 1871   .

Current taxonomy. Listrognathus (Listrognathus) punctator ( Smith, 1874)   ( Ichneumonidae   : Cryptinae   : Cryptini   ).

Type status. Holotype.

Sex. Female.

Type locality. Hyôgo Prefecture, Honshû, Japan.


Label data. First label, ‘ Type /C.M.’ (round label, with red margin; first line printed and second line handwriting); second label, ‘B.M. Condition. Good, but the base of the left fore wing is detached and joined to the hind wing only by hamuli, and the following parts have been lost: left antenna after fourth flagellomere, tibia and tarsus of left mid leg, right hind tarsus except first tarsomere, third to fifth tarsomeres of left hind leg.
