Type status. Holotype.

Sex. Female.

Type locality. Japan.

Label data. First label, ‘Type’ (round label, with red margin; printed); second label, ‘ Japan./Coll.F. Walker./ 1913–71.’ (square label; printed); third label, ‘ Spathius /fasciatus’ (square label; handwriting); fourth label, ‘262’ (square label; handwriting); fifth label, ‘ Lectotypus Spathius / japonicus Walker /design. Belokobylskij 83’ (red square label; ‘Lectotypus’ and ‘design.’ printed and the remaining characters handwriting).

Condition. Good; antennae, left fore leg, third to fifth tarsomeres of left hind leg lost.

Remarks. The type was incorrectly labelled as the lectoytype of ‘ Spathius japonicus ’, a name that doesn’t exist. Nixon (1943) states that this specimen is the holotype (‘unique female’).
