Material examined. Western Australia: WAM- C13524, Suomi Island, Easter Group, Abrolhos Islands , R. George, 22-08-1977: female 11.6 × 10.5 mm (sponge cap) ; WAM C13560, Kendrew Island , NWA, 20°29’00”S, 116°32’00”E, under rock, coll. L. M. Marsh, 26-10-1972: ovig female 10.5 × 9.1 mm (sponge cap) .

Remarks. A detailed description of C. amboinensis is given by McLay (1993) including the distinctive arrangement of teeth and tubercles on the anterolateral margin and sub-hepatic area of the carapace, respectively. The carapace is smooth, evenly convex and usually hidden under a sponge or ascidian cap.

Distribution. Sri Lanka, Mergui Archipelago ( Myanmar), Amboina (Indonesia) , Philippine Ids and New Caledonia. This is a new record for Australia. Depth 20– 40 m.
