Distinguishing sectional characters.

Flowers five-merous. Staminate flowers with stamens united into five phalanges, anthers subsessile, two-thecous. Pollen 4-colporate ( Jones 1980). Ovaries incompletely five-locular containing multiple ovules per carpel/locule, placentation parietal. Afrotropics.

Note.

There are nine currently accepted species in the genus Allanblackia Oliv., all native to Africa ( Bamps 1969; Stevens 2007; POWO 2023). Here we create the Garcinia Allanblackia (Oliv.) P.W. Sweeney for these species when they are treated as Garcinia and below provide names for them in Garcinia .
