Type species: Petauralges rackae Fain and Lukoschus, 1979 , by original designation and monotypy.
Description. Subcapitulum ventrally with or without pair of small medially positioned retrorse spurs. Propodonotal and hysteronotal shields with or without ornamentation. Setae c1 absent; cp and c3 thickened; d1 present; h1 present; h2 whip-like; ps1 present. Coxal fields I with lateral furrow each. Tibiae I and II with or without additional retrorse ventro-antiaxial spur. Genua I and II without ventro-antiaxial retrorse projection. Setae la I and II absent.
FEMALE. Antero-lateral lobes of propodonotal shield absent. Epigynum distinctly developed, located distinctly posterior to distal ends of apodemes Ia. Setae 1a situated of distal ends of apodemes Ia. Setae 4a situated at level of femora IV. Setae ps2 and ps3 spine-like. Opening of bursa copulatrix situated terminally. Posterior projection of coxal fields IV triangular. Genua III without ventro-paraxial membrane. Ambulacral disc of tarsi III and IV absent. Setae f III lanceolate, r IV present.
MALE. Genital papillae present. Setae f filiform; ps1 thickened, g situated posterior to aedeagus. Opisthosomal lobes absent. Dorsal sclerite of aedeagus with pair subparallel projections posteriorly. Setae s III and sucker-like e IV present. Genua III and tibiae III without ventro- paraxial keel. Ambulacra of tarsi IV absent.
TRITONYMPH. Dorsal shields not fused, ornamented or not. Antero-lateral lobes of propodonotal shield absent. Idiosomal setae f2 present. Coxal fields I with lateral furrow each; additional internal projections of coxal fields II present. Tarsus III without pretarsus. Genua III without ventro-paraxial membrane. Legs IV 2 or 3- segmented with 5 setae (d, e, f, r, and w) on distal segment and 0 or 2 setae (kT and solenidion φ).on proximal segment.
Species included: P. rackae Fain and Lukoschus, 1979 and P. mordax Domrow, 1988 .
Hosts. Australian marsupials of the orders Dasyuromophia ( Dasyuridae ) and Diprotodontia (Petauridae) .
