Thecla alcestis Grose-Smith was transferred to Hypolycaena Felder & Felder, 1862 by Grose-Smith (1900), where it is currently regarded as a valid species ( Tennent, 2006). Thecla alcestis Edwards is currently
regarded as a valid species in Phaeostrymon Clench, 1961 ( Robbins, 2004) . These names have not been considered congeneric after 1899.
