Type material. Holotype ♀, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO: Mayombe, Lower Congo, Luki Forest Reserve, 05º38’S, 13º04’E, 4.XI.2006, D. de Bakker & J.P. Michiels ( MRAC 220850); Paratype: 1♀, same data as holotype, 13.IX.2006 ( MRAC 220848).

Etymology. The species name is taken from the province of the type locality.

Diagnosis. C. mayombense sp. nov. females are most similar to C. halophilum , C. ghanaense sp. nov. and C. kakumense sp. nov. in having long spiralled copulatory ducts (see Lotz, 2007a: figs 47-48 and Figs 11–12 View FIGURES 1 – 12. 1 – 3 , 23–24 View FIGURES 22 – 30. 22 – 27 C ), but can be differentiated by the triangular epigynal depression with a hooded anterior lip ( Figs 32–33 View FIGURES 31 – 39. 31 – 33 C ).

Description. Female: (n = 2): TL = 6.75 (6.6–6.9); CL = 3.05 (2.8–3.3); CW = 2.40 (2.2–2.6); OAL = 0.53 (0.50–0.55); OAW = 1.45 (1.3–1.6); CLL = 0.10 (0.1–0.1). Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; fang furrow with six teeth of unequal size, PMT:RMT = 3:3 ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31 – 39. 31 – 33 C ). Measurements: AME–AME 0.30; AME–ALE 0.30; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.40; PME–PLE 0.40; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.60; MOQPW 0.70; CI (CL/ CW) 1.27; LL:CL 6.15; STL 1.7; STW 1.4. Leg measurements: I—5.9+1.5+5.4+5.9+2.5 = 20.2; II— 3.5+1.4+3.2+3.5+1.2 = 12.8; III—2.6+1.0+2.1+2.6+0.9 = 9.2; IV—3.7+1.4+3.3+3.9+1.2 = 13.5; Palp— 1.5+0.5+1.0+1.5 = 4.5. Leg spines: I 0-1p-1p, 0- 2 v-0, 2v- 1v-1v; II 0-1p-1p, 0- 2 v1p-0, 2v-1 v1 p- 1v; III 0-0-1p1r, 0- 0-1p1r, 2v 1p1r- 2v 1p1r- 3v 1p1r; IV 0-0-1p1r, 0-0-1r, 2v 1r- 2v 1p1r- 3v 1p1r. Abdomen: creamy-yellow with faint heartmark. Epigynum ( Figs 32–33 View FIGURES 31 – 39. 31 – 33 C ): depression longer than wide, triangular, with a hooded lip anteriorly; copulatory openings in lateral edge of central depressions; internally, copulatory ducts proceed anteriorly in two loops, before looping inside anterior loops posteriorly, before ending in anterio-lateral part of spermathecae; fertilization tubes enter spermathecae posterior-medially.
