While the author likely intended this as an eponym under Article 31.1.2, in which case the expected genitive would have been burcherae, the published spelling was consistently burchera . This form is not in the genitive but is a valid latinization of the surname, interpretable as a nominative first-declension noun. Under Article 11.9.1, it therefore functions as a noun in apposition. Article 32.5 specifies that incorrect transliteration or latinization does not constitute an inadvertent error subject to correction. Because the name burchera appears multiple times in the original work (abstract, description, index), it is not a lapsus calami or printer’s error. The original spelling must therefore be maintained, and later emendations to burchurae, as in AntWiki Contributors (2025), are unjustified.
