Type material. Holotype: 3, Gaoligongshan, Tengchong, Yunnan Province, China, 26 Nov. 1999, 1980 m, coll. I. Dworakowska ( NWAFU). Paratypes: 73 4Ƥ, same data as holotype; 13 4Ƥ, 2000 m, coll. Daozheng Qin, other data same as holotype; 13, Longchuan, Husa, Yunnan Province, China, 1430 m, 29 Apr. 1981, coll. Fasheng Li; 13 1Ƥ, Qiujiaba, Wenxian, Gansu Province, China, 2140 m, 3 Jul. 2001; 13, Yanggashan, 2000 m, 3 Jul. 2001; 3Ƥ, Liziba, Wenxian, Gansu Province, China, 1700 m, coll. Qiang Sun (13 in CAU, rest in NWAFU).

Length: male 3.9–4.3 mm, female 4.0–4.2 mm.

Ground colour of body reddish brown. Vertex yellow posteriorly, gradually suffused with reddish orange anteriorly, or sometimes almost entirely reddish orange; borders at eyes yellow; ocelli greyish surrounded with whitish yellow; coronal suture reddish brown. Frontoclypeus orange except basal part reddish orange, anteclypeus light orange, in some specimens frontoclypeus and anteclypeus entirely orange except base of frontoclypeus reddish orange; genae, anteocular areas and antennal bases whitish. Pronotum mostly orange brownish, surrounded with irregular arch of patches along anterior margin in addition to three sordid creamy patches. Scutellum centrally with a broad sordid cream stripe, basal angles brownish orange, scutoscutellar sulcus black. Forewing hyaline, costal margin, wax field and most of part of vein c and cell c tan. Thorax and legs beige except 1st tibia and tarsus brown. Abdomen blackish brown, laterally sordid yellow sprinkled with irregular blackish brown patches and spots on sternites. Female abdomen sordid brownish ventrally, ovipositor sordid brown to brown ochre.

Abdominal apodemes reaching end of segment 6 ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Male Pygofer elongate, caudal 1/3 narrowed, terminally rounded with about 10 rigid setae, anterior margin sinuate ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); ventral appendage narrow and nearly parallel sided, slightly sinuate over whole length with indistinct ledge marking elongate apical area ( Figs 5, 6 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Subgenital plate in profile long, basal 1/3 broad and nearly parallel sided, gradually tapering apicad dorsally, with 3–5 setae in basal group, about 25 marginal microsetae, 22 lateral macrosetae and several long fine setae in 2–3 rows ( Figs 5, 7 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Paramere broad, apically with short and compact dentifer bearing 5–6 teeth, 2–3 setae and 5–7 sensory pits below ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Aedeagal shaft declined at almost right angle from preatrium, in profile nearly same width over whole length, curved upwards with notched apex, gonopore apical on dorsal surface; atrial rim scoop like laterally with pair of short laterally curved processes caudo-ventrally ( Figs 9, 10 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Connective broad, apical margin deeply emarginate medially ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Anal tube process long, reaching further basad than half height of pygofer, sinuate and tapering to acute apex ( Figs 5, 9 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ).

Etymology. The name refers to the similarity of the new species to A. fuscus Dworakowska.

Diagnosis. Alebroides parafuscus n. sp. is a member of the A. fuscus species group based on the following combination of characters: anal tube process reaching further basad than half the height of pygofer ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); subgenital plate gradually tapering apicad ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); paramere with short dentifer ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); connective broad ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); aedeagal shaft declined from preatrium, the latter scoop like laterally, gonopore dorsal ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). It differs from A. fuscus by: pygofer with caudal 1/3 narrowed and terminally rounded with anterior margin sinuate ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); abdodminal apodemes reaching end of segment 6 ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); anal tube process sinuate towards apex ( Figs 5, 9 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ); aedeagus with paired atrial processes curved and separate from the aedeagal shaft in caudal view ( Figs 9, 10 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ).
