Erica roxburghii Benth., Prodr. 7(2): 682 (1839). – Ericoides roxburghii (Benth.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen. Pl. View in CoL 2: 967 (1891). – Erica verticillata var. roxburghii (Benth.) Bolus, Fl. Capensis 4(1): 81 (1905). – Type: [ South Africa], Cape of Good Hope, W. Roxburgh s.n. (lectotype K [K000314650], designated here).

Bentham described Erica roxburghii partly based on material collected by Roxburgh in South Africa. There is a specimen in K from the Forsyth Herbarium purchased by Bentham in 1835. This is here designated as lectotype of Bentham’s name.
