Moore renamed Asplenium varium Roxb. as Diplazium roxburghii because the epithet ‘varium’ had already been used in Diplazium .

Schultes recognised that the plant described by Roxburgh under the name Sansevieria zeylanica (L.) Willd. was not that species and so named it Sansevieria roxburghiana .
