Material examined. Types.

Etymology. The name refers to the strongly wrinkled depression half a whorl preceding the peristome, from the Latin caperata (a feminine adjective), meaning wrinkle.

Diagnosis. Shell large, with strong wrinkled depression half a whorl preceding the peristome, causing folds inferiorly. Spire dome-shaped, suture shallow. Peristome ample. Umbilicus widely opened.

Description. Shell globose-discoid, ~ 50 mm in maximum diameter, ~5¼ whorls; outline rounded; suture shallow, practically plane ( Figures 4–5 View Figures 2–7 , 10 and 13–14 View Figures 10–16 ). Protoconch of 5 mm, with about two whorls, smooth, uniform beige ( Figures 2, 7 View Figures 2–7 , 11 and 15 View Figures 10–16 ). Teleoconch ~3 whorls; sculpture consisting of growth lines producing narrow undulations, mainly close to superior suture, and rounded granules over whorls (Figures –10). Colour beige, with stains mainly in superior surface, orange colour in first two whorls, gradually darkening to brown until last whorl forming mosaic of coalescent spots usually in opisthocline bands. Inferior surface almost uniformly beige, with scanty dark, narrow, axial spots in periphery ( Figures 3 View Figures 2–7 , 12 and 16 View Figures 10–16 ). Two deep depressions located half a whorl from peristome ( Figures 3, 6 View Figures 2–7 and 12–14 View Figures 10–16 ), larger one elliptical, projected to periphery, ~1/6 whorl in length; smaller depression parallel to larger one, turned inferiorly, spirally elongated ( Figures 3, 6 View Figures 2–7 , 12 and 14 View Figures 10–16 ). Last half whorl with weak peripheral carina, located along its middle region ( Figures 4 View Figures 2–7 and 13 View Figures 10–16 ). Peristome wide, ~70% of shell height, ~52% of shell width ( Figures 5 View Figures 2–7 and 10 View Figures 10–16 ); superior 2/3 strongly convex, callus narrow and thin; inferior 1/3 notched, performing angle ~40°, incompletely covering umbilicus; outer lip performing wide arc, with ample notch (~120°) correspondent to carina. Umbilicus open, occupying ~10% of inferior area ( Figures 3, 6 View Figures 2–7 , 12 and 16 View Figures 10–16 ).

Measurements (width and height in mm). Holotype MZSP 14400 ( Figures 2–9 View Figures 2–7 View Figures 8, 9 ): 50.2 by 33.3; paratype MZSP 154136 ( Figures 10–12 View Figures 10–16 ): 45.1 by 28.5; MZSP 154137 ( Figures 13–16 View Figures 10–16 ): 39.5 by 26.4 (specimen not fully grown).

Distribution. Known only from type locality.

Habitat. Within leaf litter and rotting trunks or branches of fallen trees, in the soil and trees.
