Genus Stangeela Menke, 1962

Janvier (1926) commented that cocoons of S. cyaniventris (Gu é rin-M é neville, 1831) have three similar concentric layers, the external layer being thinner. This multicapsuled structure strongly supports a closely relationship of this little-known genus to the monophyletic group Sphecinae + Ammphilinae.
