Pampathynnus vigilii (Brèthes)

Elaphroptera vigilii Brèthes, 1910: 217–218 . Holotype, ARGENTINA: Alta Garcia, Cordoba, date unknown, 1♂ (Vigil) (MACN). Paratypes, ARGENTINA: same locality, 1♂ and 1f (MACN).

Scotaena vigilii . Kimsey, 2004a: 511. Carnimeo et al, 2017: 255.

Distribution. Pampathynnus vigilii is recorded from the southernmost Brazilian Atlantic Forest to the Chaco region: Alta Garcia, Cordoba, Argentina (MACN), Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (CESC) and Santa Catarina, 9km E from Araranguá, Brazil (DZUP).

Discussion. Although this species has been described based on male and female individuals, the author makes a caveat after the description: “ Es con duda que atribuo á la misma especie los dos sexos que aquí describo ” [It is with doubt that I assign to the same species the male and female individuals here described]. Further analysis must be made to confirm the identity of the females of P. vigilii .
