Comments on karyotypes: The meioformula of Tropisternus lateralis (Fabricius, 1775) was published by Smith (1953, 1960), the karyotype and meiosis of Tropisternus mutatus d’Orchymont, 1921 was studied by Pine et al. (2013). Published data indicate that Tropisternus , like Sternolophus , has 2 n = 16 + Xy
