Positive for esculin hydrolysis; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, urease, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, gelatinase and β -galactosidase. Does not utilize D-glucose, capric acid, N -acetyl-glucosamine, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, D-maltose, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, trisodium citrate, adipic acid and phenyl acetic acid.
