( Figs. 10–11 View FIGURES 10 – 13 , 24 View FIGURES 20 – 24 )
Scoparia tibetalis Caradja, 1937 View in CoL , in Caradja & Meyrick: 160. Type locality: Yushu, Qinghai Province, China. Eudonia tibetalis ( Caradja, 1937) : Nuss, 1999: 27, 75.
Eudonia altissima Leraut, 1986: 130 View in CoL , fig. 8. Type locality: Yunnan Province, China. Syn. n.
Material examined. Lectotype of E. tibetalis (designated by Popescu-Gorj 1991: 188; right forwing and both antennae are missing): 3, LT, "Buschland bei Jecundo | 3000m. 97öL 33 nB. | (Tibet) 23.8.1935. H. Höne.", " Scoparia | tibetalis | Car. | Typen.", "Gen. Prep. EGM 41 | Scoparia tibetalis Car. | Lectotype 3 | Jekundo Tibet", "186.100", " Lectotypus | [?] 1964 | Scoparia | tibetalis Car. ", " Lectotype | Scoparia | tibetalis | 3 Car. | des. Dr. A. Popescu-Gorj | Romania ", MINGA (genitalia was dissected and stored in micro-vial filled with glycerol by Nuss). Paralectotype E. tibetalis : 3, "132 Südlichstes Steppen- | land, 4300m, 98öL 32,5 nB. | (Tibet) 22.7.1935. H. Höne.", " Paralectotype | Scoparia | tibetalis | 3 Car. | des. Dr. A. Popescu-Gorj", MINGA. Holotype of E. altissima , Ƥ " Holotype ", " Holotype | Eudonia | altissima | Ƥ Leraut", "A-tun-tse (Nord Yünnan) | Obere Höhe (ca. 4500 m) | 18. 7 1936. H. Höne", "P. Leraut det. | prép. n° 1407 | Eudonia altissima Leraut | Ƥ", MINGA.
Additional material. 1 3, Alpine Zone, Batang (30°00ʹN, 99°09ʹE), Sichuan Province, ca. 5000 m, 18.vi.1936, leg. H. Höne (genitalia slide No. LWC08110); 2 3, A. tun. tse, leg. Obere Höhe, Yunan Province, ca. 4500 m, 27.vii., 14.viii.1936, leg. H. Höne (genitalia slide No. LWC08111); 2 3, Lijiang (26°52ʹN, 100°14ʹE), Yunan Province, 26–28.vii.1935, leg. H. Höne ( ZFMK).
Diagnosis. This species is similar to E. inouei Sasaki, 1998 in the male genitalia except the uncus notched on the posterior margin, but can be disparted easily by the postmedian line conspicuously dentated towards distal discoidal stigma and the posterior three fourths nearly straight; and by the antrum tubular and the colliculum one third length of ductus bursae in the female genitalia. In E. inouei , the postmedian line inconspicuously bends towards distal discoidal stigma and the posterior three fourths is sinuate; the anturm is funnel-shaped and the colliculum is a bit shorter than half length of the ductus bursae. Eudonia tibetalis ( Caradja, 1937) aslo resembles E. zhongdianensis sp. n. in the male genitalia, but can be distinguished easily by the forewing pattern and the female genitalia. The differences between the two species are stated under E. zhongdianensis sp. n.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 20 – 24 ): Uncus ovate, notched at middle on posterior margin. Gnathos slender, slightly longer than uncus. Valva narrowed slightly near base, apex rounded. Juxta broad basally, narrowed towards blunt apex. Phallus straight, shorter than valva.
Distribution. China (Qinghai, Sichuan, Yunnan).
Remarks. The holotype of E. tibetalis bears the locality "Jecundo". Its current placename is Yushu (33°02ʹN, 96°59ʹE) in Qinghai Province, which is here regarded as the type locality of E. tibetalis . The holotype of E. altissima is the same as the holotype of E. altissima based on the wing patterns ( Figs. 10–11 View FIGURES 10 – 13 ). So we here suppose that E. altissima is conspecific with E. tibetalis .
