TYPE MATERIAL. — Probably lost.

TYPE LOCALITY. — Undetermined (“ East Indies ”) .

MATERIAL EXAMINED. — New Caledonia proper. VAUBAN: 20°53.8’S, 167°07.3’E, 48-52 m, 1 dd juv; stn 1460, 20°52.4’S GoogleMaps ,

stn 40, 22°30’S, l 66°24’E, 250-350 m, 1 dd juv. 167°08’E, 40-60 m, 1 dd, 4 dd juv (Fig. 119).

Loyalty Islands. Lifou. LIFOU 2000: stn 1443, Baie du Santal,

DISTRIBUTION. — Indian Ocean: eastern Arabia “insinuated in stony corals” ( Bosch et al. 1995). Tropical Indo-West Pacific , living in cavities within faviine scleractinian corals (Massin 1982). New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands, empty juvenile shells in 52-250 m, possibly having drifted from an original shallower habitat .

REMARKS. — Mostly juvenile shells were collected by the present expeditions, but this is because specifically focused sampling is necessary to obtain adults from within coral.
